Cape Town Boat Show consolidates at the V&A Waterfront

The Cape Town International Boat Show (CTIBS) will be held at one consolidated venue at the V&A Waterfront Marina North Wharf from 14 to 16 October 2016 with the largest ever on-water display of luxury yachts, catamarans and motor cruisers, and a 1 000m 2 dryland exhibition marquee.

‘Now in its 16 th year the Cape Town International Boat Show has become one of the sure signs that Spring has arrived in the Mother City. And this year we’ve fine-tuned the event to bring all exhibitors much closer together,’ says organiser Dana Whiting. ‘The V&A Waterfront is an iconic venue, it’s easily accessible by car or public transport, there’s loads of parking, and there’s lots of other things to do once you’ve finished with the Show.’

The Western Cape is home to a number of the world’s finest catamaran builders and many of these prestigious marques will be on the water this year. In addition to the locally manufactured vessels there will be a wide range of exclusive yacht and cruiser brands from around the world. If you’re in the market for a top-of- the-range seagoing vessel this is the ideal show to visit; keeping in mind that in most instances visitors are allowed on board to inspect the various luxurious craft.

The dryland exhibition area is situated on the North Wharf area alongside the in-water displays. With 40 exhibitors already confirmed in the marquee area, this part of the show will carry a broad range of marine-related products and services; including manufacturers of rigid and semi-rigid runabouts, boat motor manufacturers, safety equipment, and leisure products among others.

For those looking to get their hands wet SA Sailing will be offering short trips aboard one of their training craft. Sailing is a wonderful eco-friendly sport and this is a perfect opportunity to try your hand with no obligation. For the more energetic Red Paddle will have a range of their highly-successful Stand Up Paddle Boards available for demonstration. Once again show visitors will be able to take one of the SUPs out for a paddle in the sheltered confines of the Marina. Stand up paddling has been dubbed the ‘new golf’.

Visitors can keep abreast of what to expect by visiting the website on a regular basis or by following the Facebook page or Twitter account.

Tickets are R80 for adults, R40 for scholars. Visitors in possession of a valid yacht or boat club membership card will receive a 50% discount off their ticket.
