BG Boat Parts was established by Bernard Bevan over 60 years ago. He ran a successful manufacturing business on his farm in Johannesburg until 1977 when the decision was made to move the family owned and run business to Knysna in the Western Cape. In Cape Town on Wednesday October 26, the explorer lifted the lid on his latest global adventure: Sailing the world with his family.

At his knee, will be his sons James, aged 5, and Samuel, aged just 2. By his side, as his First Mate, will be his wife, Vasti - who is the joint-record-holder with her husband in the Africa-to-New York crossing by rowboat, which took 171 days.

The Cape Town Boat Show of 2022 will be the stage on which Manser will unveil the family’s adventure craft: a legendary ocean-going yacht, almost the same vintage as Manser.

The name “Miura” was taken from a super-tough breed of black fighting bulls - reflecting Manser’s never-say-die fighting spirit, while on adventure.

The yacht has been reborn with a tip-to-toe refurbishment, featuring equipment from some of the most respected names in sailing. And also, some luxuries seen only on the superyachts. Co incidentally the same superyachts that will be flanking him and family in the water at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town.

Ullman Sails Cape Town is the Head office of the South African organization and covers an area of approximately 7000sqm. The facilities include the cut and sew loft plus a canvas work department, as well as the state of the art FiberPath manufacturing facility.

The Cape Town loft has built sails for over 100 mega-yachts as well as having built over 80,000 sails of various types from cruising to racing sails and everything in-between. The loft is world renown for the many multihull sails that are exported around the world whether supplying a new boat or as a replacement for the many builders that have chosen this facility to supply their sails.
